If radiator shows signs of a blown tank-to-core gasket (plastic tank radiators), a split seam or solder joint (metal tank radiators), or the tanks show signs of cracking or "ballooning", the overall condition of the engine (ESPECIALLY the head gaskets) should be checked BEFORE a replacement radiator is installed..
